​​​​​​DAY 1 - ARRIVAL AT SANDDRIF HOLIDAY RESORT

​​​​Arrival at Sanddrif Holiday Day Resort 14:00 onwards.  Sanddrif will be our base camp, and from there we’ll set out on a different hike each day.  After a warm welcome and arrival introduction settle in an relax.  A briefing of the adventure will be held before dinner.  In the evening, unwind and enjoy a hearty meal.

DAY 2 - HIKING WOLFBERG CRACKS AND ARCH (DISTANCE:  16 KM, ESTIMATED DURATION:  8 HOURS)

STRENUOUS AND CHALLENGING, EXPOSURE TO HEIGHT

​​​​**VISIT THE VALLEY OF THE RED GODS**

​​​​​We will begin the day with coffee and rusks in the early morning, preparing for a long but rewarding journey.  Breakfast will be enjoyed in the mountains, with each hiker responsible for packing their own breakfast and lunch.  This will be the most challenging hike of the entire trip.  Standing at the trailhead, you might wonder how you'll reach the top.  However, once you start the journey, you'll soon realize it's not impossible.  The trail zigzags upward, requiring you to navigate big boulders and narrow cracks.  As you reach the top, the trail becomes easier.  We'll descend through the wide cracks, know as Adderley Street On our way back we will stop at the Valley of the Red Gods.  The Valley of the Red Gods is a breathtaking landscape filled with towering sandstone formations, glowing in shades of deep red and orange.  This otherworldly valley is a hiker’s paradise, offering both a sense of adventure and a peaceful connection to nature.  In the evening, unwind and enjoy a hearty meal.

DAY 3 - HIKING DISA POOL (DISTANCE:  5 KM, ESTIMATED DURATIOIN:  3 - 4 HOURS)

MILD EXPOSURE TO HEIGHTS

​​Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before setting out on the trail.  Although this is not a long hike we will have lunch along the way, each hiker is responsible for packing their own lunch.  Hike up to the breathtaking waterfall – the ideal swimming and picnic spot, especially in the summertime.  From December to February the disa flowers are in full bloom, making the hike that much more memorable and picturesque.  We will arrive back early in the afternoon, giving you plenty of time to rest an recharge for the next days adventure.  Take this opportunity to relax, reflect on the journey so far, and enjoy some well-deserved downtime.  In the evening enjoy a hearty meal.

DAY 4 - HIKING MALTESE CROSS  (DISTANCE:  6.3 KM, ESTIMATED DURATION:  4 - 5 HOURS)

NO EXPOSURE TO HEIGHTS

​​​We will begin the day with coffee and rusks in the early morning, preparing for another rewarding journey.  Breakfast will be enjoyed in the mountains, with each hiker responsible for packing their own breakfast and lunch.  Embark on a spectacular hike to the unique and famous cross rock formation known as the Maltese Cross, surrounded by the awe-inspiring scenery every step of the way.  In the evening enjoy a hearty meal.

DAY 5 - MORNING EXPLORING STADSAAL CAVE & ANCIENT SAN ROCK PAINTINGS

NO EXPOSURE TO HEIGHTS​​​

​​​Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before setting out on the trail.  Each hiker is responsible to pack their own lunch.  A visit to Stadsaal Caves and the Ancient Rock Paintings is more about exploring and immersing yourself in the natural beauty and cultural history of the Cederberg than tackling a strenuous hike.  The Stadsaal (Afrikaans for "City Hall") Caves are a series of impressive weathered sandstone formations shaped by wind and water over millions of years.  The caves feature large, open chambers and smooth, sculpted rock walls, creating a stunning natural "hall."  The caves have been visited for centuries.

Near the caves, you'll find well-preserved San rock art, estimated to be thousand of years old.  These ochre-colored paintings depict elephants, antelope and human figures, offering a glimpse into the lives, beliefs, and spiritual world of the indigenous San hunter-gatherers.

DAY 5 - AFTERNOON EXPLORING LOTS WIFE & ROCK FORMATIONS  (DISTANCE:  4,2 KM, ESTIMATED DURATION:  2 HOURS)

EASY WALK WITH NO EXPOSURE TO HEIGHTS​​

​​​The Lot’s Wife trail is a short and easy walk, perfect for those who want to step into a landscape filled with some of the most breathtaking rock formations in the Cederberg.  This walk is more about exploration and admiration than endurance.  In the evening, unwind and enjoy a hearty meal.

DAY 6 - MORNING WALK TRUITJIESKRAAL (ESTIMATED DURATION:  2 HOURS)

NO EXPOPSURE TO HEIGHTS 

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before setting out on the trail. Experience the true magic of the Cederberg.  This unbelievable hiking trail takes you through breathtaking rock formations that are characteristic of the Cederberg.

DAY 6 - AFTERNOON WALK  - KROMRIVIER CAVE (ESIMATED DURATION:  2 HOURS)

EASY WALK WITH WITH MILD EXPOSURE TO HEIGHTS

​​​​​​Experience the true magic of the Cederberg.  This unbelievable hiking trail takes you through breathtaking rock formations that are characteristic of the Cederberg.  In the evening unwind and enjoy a hearty meal.

DAY 7 - HIKING ALGERIA WATERFALL (DISTANCE:  5 KM, ESTIMATED DURATION:  4 - 5 HOURS)​

CHALLENGING WITH MILD EXPOSURE TO HEIGHTS

​​We will begin the day with coffee and rusks in the early morning, preparing for the  journey ahead..  Breakfast will be enjoyed in the mountains, with each hiker responsible for packing their own breakfast and lunch.  The Algeria Waterfall is a short yet scenic hike that provides a rewarding experience once you reach the falls.  The trail offers a bit of a challenge with some uphill sections followed by a downhill return, making it a good option for those who enjoy a bit of a workout in nature.  There is a short section of boulder hopping just before you reach the waterfall, adding a bit of adventure and fun to the hike.  The Algeria Waterfall hike is the perfect way to end your Cederberg adventure.  After experiencing the rugged landscapes and unique rock formations, this short and scenic hike offers a peaceful conclusion to your journey.  In the evening unwind and enjoy a hearty meal.

DAY 8 - DEPARTURE

​​Enjoy a leisurely breakfast, taking in the peaceful morning before packing up and getting ready for departure.  It's the perfect time to reflect on your adventure and savor the last moments in the Cederberg.  The memories of the landscape, the hikes, and the connections made will stay with you, and the Cederberg will always be waiting for your return.  This is the time we say goodbye-till we meet again.​
