Interesting Facts
The Swellendam Mountains, part of the Langeberg range, are steeped in natural beauty and rich cultural history. One of the most fascinating aspects of this range is that it's home to Marloth Nature Reserve lesser-known gem that boats an incredible diversity of fynbos vegetation and a range of rare plant species - including some found nowhere else on earth.

But what really sets this area apart is its connection to South-African history and folklore. The mountains form a dramatic backdrop to the town of Swellendam, one of South-Africa's oldest settlements, established in 1745. Early explorers, settlers, and indigenous Khoisan people once traversed these very slopes, leaving behind traces of rich and complex past.
