Losberg, George, Outeniqua Mountain Range                                      

Distance: 6,8km , Elevation Gain: 638m, Height: 851m, Grade: (6) Moderate, Estimated duration: 4hrs

Trail Description: Losberg is one of the six peaks nestled within the Outeniqua Mountain range.  Hiking up to Losberg is an absolute must-do.  The trail is adorned with diverse fynbos, offering a unique experience.  On clear days, reaching Losberg rewards you with breathtaking panoramic views of mountains, valleys, and the nearby town.  Be prepared for a challenge as the trail presents steep uphills and downhills, requiring a decent level of fitness to navigate its terrain.  Despite not being overly technical, the final stretch to the top of the trail might pose a challenge for individuals who are afraid of heights. 

Vensterberg, George, Outeniqua Mountain Range

Distance: 4.9km , Elevation Gain: 554m, Height: 1287m, Grade: (6) Moderate, Estimated duration: 6 hrs 

Trail Description: Vensterberg is one of the six peaks nestled within the Outeniqua Mountain range.  Hiking up to Vensterberg is an absolute must-do.  Do not underestimate the distance of Vensterberg; it's a challenging trail.  This technical route demands rock scrambling and is not suitable for the faint-hearted.  However, the payoff on clear days is immense-a 360 degree panoramic view awaits those who conquer it.  It's advisable to avoid attempting this trail alone if you haven't experienced it before.

George Peak, Outeniqua Mountain Range

Distance: 16.3km , Elevation Gain1397m, Grade: (10) Difficult, Estimated duration: 7hrs 

Trail Description: George Peak is one of distinguished peaks within the Outeniqua Mountain range.  If you seek a long-distance trail with some challenges, this trail is an excellent choice.  While not highly technical, it will test you with continuous uphills and downhill sections.  Although mostly straightforward, there's a short stretch involving a bit of rock scrambling.  This trail offers stunning views and diverse fynbos throughout its course.  Upon reaching the summit on clear days, a breathtaking 360-degree panoramic view of mountains, valleys, and the nearby town awaits as your well-served reward.

George Peak Vertical Climb, Outeniqua Mountain Range

Distance: 9.6km, Elevation Gain: 1163m, Height: 1337m Grade: (9) Difficult, Estimated duration: 6hrs 

Trail Description: If you're up for a challenge, search no more.  Conquering the George Peak Vertical Climb will test your limits in every conceivable manner. Robust legs and knees are indispensable for this undertaking, as it involves navigating steep inclines and descents.  The trail is not designed for the faint-hearted; while not overly technical, there are sections where walking is not an option, and crawling becomes the norm.  Your efforts, however, culminate in reaching the summit, where clear days offer breathtaking panoramic views.

Cradock Peak, Outeniqua Mountain Range

Distance: 18,2km , Elevation Gain: 1628m, Height: 1578m, Grade: (13) Extreme, Estimated duration: 10hrs 

Trail Description: Cradock Peak is part of the distinguished six peaks in the Outeniqua Mountain range and stands as the highest mountain regularly climbed in the area. The trail, while not overly technical, does involve short segments of rock scrambling. Be prepared for relentless uphill and downhill sections, requiring strong legs to navigate. The final stretch leading to the peak might be daunting for some, and it's not recommended for those who are faint-hearted. Throughout the trail, you'll be treated to breathtaking vistas and fiverse fynbos. Reaching the summit on clear days offers a stunning 360-degree panoramic view, showcasing the surrounding mountains, valleys, and the nearby town-a magnificent reward for the effort.

Tierkop, Outeniqua Mountain Range

Distance: 11,7km , Elevation Gain: 698m, Grade: (5) Moderate, Estimated duration: 4hrs 

Trail Description: Tierkop is among the six peaks commonly hiked in the area. The trail itself isn't overly technical, but there's a section where you'll traverse a ledge, which might be intimidating for those who are faint-hearted. Amidst the journey, you'll encounter a variety of fynbos. Reaching the peak on clear days rewards you with magnificent views encompassing valleys, mountains, the nearby town and even the seashore-a spectacular sight to behold.

Groenkop, Outeniqua Mountain Range

Distance: 16,9km , Elevation Gain: 933m, Height635m, Grade: (10) Difficult, Estimated duration: 7hrs

Trail Description: Embarking on the Groenkop Peak promises to be a definite challenge.  Expect extended and steep ascents and descents, demanding robust legs and knees for the journey.  Despite the lack of technical intricacies overall, a particularly steep downhill descent and subsequent ascent after crossing the river add an extra layer of difficulty.  Notably, this segment might prove challenging for those with a fear of heights.  Reaching the summit rewards you with awe-inspiring 360-degree panoramic views on clear days.  The experience through the forest is bound to leave you mesmerized.

Cradock Kloof Pass, George, Outeniqua Mountain Range

Distance: 13,4km , Elevation Gain: 1006m, Grade: (7) Moderate, Estimated duration: 6.3hrs 

Trail Description: The Cradock Kloof Pass trail is an essential addition to any bucket list, offering a historical journey.  Dating back to the 1800s, this trail served as a route for ox wagons, and the imprints of these wagons still linger today. It's a picturesque trail that meanders across a river and ascends through the mountains. As you trek, you'll catch glimpses of Cradock Peak, with its tower visible on clear days. While the trail isn't technically challenging, it does demand strong legs.  Enriching the journey, the trail is adorned with diverse fynbos. Upon reaching the saddle, you're treated to a  magnificent view of mountains, valleys and a quaint town named Herald-a sight worth experiencing.

Doringrivier, Waboomskraal

Distance: 16.5km , Elevation Gain: 785m, Grade: (9) Difficult, Estimated duration: 6.3hrs

Trail Description: The Doring River, nestled in the heart of Waboomskraal, is an absolute must for any bucket list and happens to be one of my personal favorite trails. As you pass through the gate from Cape Nature, you leave everything behind and embark on a journey that promises unforgettable memories. The trail unveils a stunning landscape of fynbos, valleys, and mountains, greeting you in ways you've never experienced before. Upon reaching the summit, on clear days, the panoramic view allows you to glimpse the town of Oudtshoorn. On warmer days, the waterfall offers a refreshing spot for a swim. This trail presents its challenges not technical, but it involves demanding uphills and a lengthy descent. Despite the exertion, every step taken on this trail is undeniably worthwhile.

Sleeping Beauty, Riversdale

Distance: 14.3km Elevation Gain: 1030m,  Height: 1343m, Grade: (10) Difficult, Estimated duration: 7.3hrs 

Trail Description: The mountain aptly named "Sleeping Beauty" truly lives up to its name.  Its distinct appearance is visible from a considerable distance, appearing peacefully as it rests high in the mountains with a smaller peak resembling a baby. However, don't be deceived by its beauty. Reaching this peak demands strong legs; otherwise, the ascent and descent can feel gradually bone-breaking. The trail, while not overly technical, is a continuous uphill journey, and as the saying goes, what goes up must come down. Along the way, you'll encounter a variety of landscapes-fynbos, rivers, valleys, and mountains. There's a short section involving rock scrambling that might be daunting for some. Upon reaching the summit on clear days, a magnificent view of farms and surrounding mountains unfolds before you. Despite the physical challenge, every step taken toward conquering Sleeping Beauty is unquestionably rewarding.

Campherskloof, Peak and Hut

Distance: 13,3km , Elevation Gain: 824m, Height: 1067m, Grade: (7) Moderate, Estimated duration: 6hrs

Trail Description: Camferskloof is yet another hike that holds a special place among my favorites. After conquering the more challenging segments, a rewarding view overlooking Waboomskraal awaits you. The continually changing landscape is truly astonishing, keeping you in awe throughout the journey. Upon reaching the saddle, the sight of the breathtaking valley is simply mesmerizing. Although not technically demanding, the ascent towards the peak exposes you to some heights, which might not be suitable for those who are faint-hearted. A reasonable level of fitness is necessary to tackle this hike confidently.
