The Boosmansbos Wilderness Area, which includes hiking trails, is located in the Langeberg Mountains, approximately 22 km northwest of Heidelberg, in the south-western Cape.
Interesting facts
Boosmansbos is unique. It is classified as a Wilderness Area—defined as “an undeveloped area, uninhabited by people, retaining an intrinsically wild appearance and offering visitors a true sense of isolation from the outside world.”
Boosmansbos was proclaimed a Wilderness Area in 1978 and is managed in order to maintain its natural systems and to safeguard its pristine environment. As part of the Cape Floral Kingdom, it was declared a World Heritage Site in 2004.
