Interesting facts

The Tsitsikamma Trail is a hiker’s paradise in the southern Cape, winding through lush Afromontane forests and vibrant mountain fynbos.  Ancient river gorges, along with countless rivers and streams, speak to the shaping force of water—and echo the meaning behind the name Tsitsikamma.  This is an enchanted realm where the presence of past giants like elephant and buffalo still lingers in the air.  Towering Outeniqua yellowwoods—some of the finest specimens of South Africa’s national tree—stand guard over the forest canopy, while hikers navigate the vast roots beneath their watchful presence.
