Location​

The Whale Trail is located within the De Hoop Nature Reserve in the Western Cape province of South Africa.  Situated approximately 230 kilometers east of Cape Town.

The Whale Trail takes you through one of the best land-based whale-watching spots in the world, where you can hike along cliffs with ocean views and spot Southern Right whales, dolphins, and rich marine life—all while walking through a UNESCO-recognized floral kingdom.​

Terrain

The terrain includes rocky mountain paths, fynbos ridges, coastal cliffs, sandy beaches, and tidal pools—offering a mix of steep climbs and easier flat sections.

You need to hike for 5 consecutive days.  Some of the days are physically and mentally demanding.
